Ram Bouchnik - Archaeo-zoologist

Ram BouchnikRam Bouchnik is an archaeo-zoologist at the Zinman Institute of Archaeology in the University of Haifa. His primary research experience has been in the analysis of several historical period bone assemblages using taphonomic methods and techniques. He has had field experience at various sites in Israel, notably the examination of materials from the Shu'fat excavations in 2003-2007, ancient Jerusalem city dumps in 2005, and Mount Zion in 2007. Ram's main research interests are the subsistence activities and foraging behavior patterns of ancient peoples, especially during the Roman period in Jerusalem and in Israel, as well as the reconstruction of past environments from an archaeo-zoological perspective. He is currently conducting his PhD research on the subject of "Meat consumption in the Jewish society of Judea in the Late Second Temple period" at the University of Haifa.
